1. Pengertian & Fungsi Sosial
Procedure Text adalah jenis teks yang menjelaskan cara membuat, mengoperasikan, atau melakukan
sesuatu melalui serangkaian langkah yang berurutan.
Dalam dunia otomotif, kemampuan memahami procedure text sangat krusial karena hampir seluruh
instruksi kerja, buku panduan pemilik (owner's manual), dan Standar Operasional Prosedur (SOP)
perbaikan mesin ditulis menggunakan format teks ini untuk menghindari kesalahan fatal saat bekerja.
2. Struktur Teks (Generic Structure)
Setiap teks prosedur umumnya memiliki tiga bagian utama:
• Goal/Aim: Judul yang menunjukkan tujuan (Contoh: How to Change a Motorcycle Engine Oil).
• Materials/Tools: Daftar alat atau bahan yang diperlukan (Contoh: wrench, funnel, new engine oil).
• Steps/Methods: Urutan langkah-langkah kerja yang harus dilakukan secara runtut dari awal hingga
selesai.
3. Unsur Kebahasaan (Language Features)
• Imperative Sentences (Kalimat Perintah): Menggunakan kata kerja dasar di awal kalimat tanpa
subjek. Contoh: Loosen the bolt, pour the oil.
• Action Verbs (Kata Kerja Tindakan Otomotif): Kata kerja spesifik perbengkelan. Contoh: tighten
(mengencangkan), loosen (melonggarkan), check (memeriksa), clean (membersihkan), refill (mengisi
ulang).
• Sequence Connectors (Kata Penghubung Urutan): Kata untuk menandai urutan waktu. Contoh:
First, Second, Next, Then, After that, Finally.
4. Contoh Teks Prosedur Otomotif
Goal: How to Change a Motorcycle Engine Oil
Tools and Materials: New engine oil, Wrench, Oil drain pan, Funnel, Clean rag.
Steps:
1. First, place the motorcycle on its center stand on a level ground.
2. Second, put the oil drain pan under the engine drain plug. 3. Next, loosen the drain plug using a wrench and remove it carefully.
4. Then, let the old engine oil drain completely into the pan.
5. After that, reinstall and tighten the drain plug firmly.
6. Subsequently, open the oil filler cap and pour the new engine oil using a funnel.
7. Finally, check the oil level with the dipstick, close the cap, and wipe any spills with a clean rag.
